Blink Productions

Blink is a film production company, specialising in the production of television commercials. Blink was founded in 1985 by Bob Lawrie and James Studholme and was originally an animation company. Somewhat leftfield in approach, early highlights included Terrence Higgins Trust ‘Hopping Pecker’ and ‘Rock Chunk’ for Yorkie.

In the early 1990’s Blink transformed into a live action company, without losing it’s distinctive flavour. Largely known for finding and developing unknown talent, that decade was defined by the launching of such luminaries as Ivan Zacharias (Whiskas, Landrover), Doug Foster (Guinness), Dominic Murphy (VW, Virgin, Heinz) Steve Reeves and Paul Gay amongst others. This culminated in being Campaign magazines’ production company of the year in 1997.

In 2005, in partnership with Diane McArter we opened Furlined in the USA, extending our reach into the American market. 2003 saw the launch of Colonel Blimp, Blink’s sister music video production company and in 2004, Blinkink, a subdivision specialising in the hybrid world of live action filmmaking, modern animation and visual effects.

The last few years have seen the Blink family riding a new creative wave, achieving great success in both the traditional commercial realms with directors such as Dougal Wilson, Lynn Fox and Pleix whilst also venturing into the digital arena, producing some highly successful online work from Ben Hibon, Pleix and Kristofer Strom. The year was topped off by being awarded runner-up Production Company of the Year by Campaign and Boards magazine and producing the most talk about commercial in recent years, Cadbury’s Gorilla which one the Grand Prix at both Cannes, BTAA as well as the much coverted D&AD Black Pencil. Our advertising clients include all of the top London and American agencies, while working regularly with the likes of MTV, both in Europe and Asia, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and ITV.
