James Sharpe is a director, writer and creative based in London. Originally from the Midlands, he began his career writing and directing short films, receiving funding from UK Film Council, EM Media and Wellington Films. Transitioning to music videos, he directed videos for independent artists like Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, Bearsuit, and Darren Hayman, which showcased at SXSW and Ciclope Festival of Craft.
His music videos led him to direct sketches for the BBC’s Russell Howard’s Good News for two series, and then to commercial work, working as a director and creative independently and within agencies for clients like Disney, Microsoft, Currys PC World, Sony Playstation and Paramount Pictures, creating concepts, writing treatments and pitching directly to clients.
His latest short FIBS funded by Creative England and executive produced by 2AM Films, played at Aesthetica Film Festival and the London Short Film Festival - "Sharpe’s delicate direction combines the half-known fantasies of adolescence...all the stronger for allowing its actors to communicate with silences. The film’s landscapes are its emotional axis." - Joshua Potts, The Double Negative.
He is currently developing a slate of feature films, the first of which is set for production in 2016, and he continues to work on branded and commercial content.
