25 April 2017

If you like to discover new and interesting music then read on. In every newsletter Rob from A-MNEMONIC Music shares his mix-tape of the latest releases and tracks that you might have previously missed, for you to enjoy!

My absolute favourite track this week is an obscure and amazing track by Pillow Person titled ‘On your Way.’ I’d somehow missed this release back in February, but very glad I’ve discovered it. It’s an electronic track marked by slinky metallic synth sounds, a manipulated vocal hook, and a relentless pulsating thump. Listen a bit harder and it morphs from seeming strangely innocent into something much more sinister. It’s a tune that gradually ramps itself over time by adding new sounds and lyrics to catch you off guard and add just that little bit more intrigue.

British House music band Dirty Vegas were a favourite of mine in the Noughties, best known for their international hit single ‘Days Gone By’. They are now back with this awesome remix of their track ‘Reckless’, which is a beautiful, carefree edit that can’t help but fill you with happiness. The irony is, the song centres around a woman who is desperate and “reckless for love”; one who will leave you “holding out for something that never comes”.

One last track that you might have missed earlier this year is ‘In Motion’ by Manchester quartet China Lane. Their latest music is being described as Synth Powered, Funky Pop. Similarities being mentioned to the likes of London Grammar, Empire of The Sun and The 1975 with a retro edge being compared to some legendry bands including New order and The Pet Shop boys.
