Homespun, the Soho based edit house who specialise in short films and music videos, are delighted to announce that Assistant Editor, Charlie Von Rotberg has been promoted to Editor.
A graduate of the Camberwell College of Art, Charlie joined Homespun three years ago when his band decided to take a break. He has since cut promos for Skepta, Lewis Capaldi, Elderbrook x Rudimental with directors including, Luke Davies, Olivia Rose, FKA Twigs and Eoin Glaister.
Charlie had crossed paths with editing promos while he was drumming, as he put together his band’s own music videos, so editing was a natural next step for him. He explains how he made the transition from drum sticks to wacom pen, “editing felt completely in harmony with music for me, and coming from an art and design schooling, it really struck a chord. Once I got going with it I found the similarities to making records remarkable and very addictive.
In terms of moving from assistant to editor this year, I’m looking forward to having a lot more creative head space and cutting while the sun is still up, a bit of a novelty.”
Homespun EP, Alice Clarke commented on his promotion, ‘without a doubt Charlie is one of the most exciting young editors I’ve met in a long time. His natural ability at the craft itself is unrivalled, this is enhanced by his ease and confidence with clients and his dedication towards everything he cuts. He will definitely go far!”
