Independent Films are delighted to announce the signing of Peter Lydon, a director who blends great comic performances with a cinematic eye.
This combination has allowed him to move seamlessly between commercials and high profile TV where he has directed shows like Shameless, Teachers, Mistresses, Secret Diary of a Call Girl and Poirot. His BBC period drama Garrow’s Law won a prestigious Royal Television society award.
Peter has written and directed several acclaimed short films including Dating Eliza, which won Best Short and Best Writer at Kinsale as well as three top awards at the LA Comedy Festival.
He cut his directing teeth as a documentary-maker with The South Bank Show and BBC Arena, where his three-part biography of Peter Sellers was BAFTA nominated and picked up several major awards in the US.
In the commercials world he has clocked up work for brands like Carlsberg, Ikea, Sky, VW and Mercedes.
His Samsung ad, featuring Hodor from Game of Thrones, won over half a dozen awards globally including three Cannes Lions.
He has also carved out a successful reputation for commercials with huge stars like Al Pacino, Benedict Cumberbatch, Joanna Lumley, Michael Caine and Scarlet Johansson. Most recently he directed Mads Mikkelsen for Carlsberg.
Peter is also a prolific cartoonist but that’s another story…
