Snapper Films are delighted to welcome the award-winning directors Mark and Matt Hoffman to their roster.
Inspired by a childhood filled with a heady mix of Close Encounters, Star Wars, Monty Python and Saturday Night Live the sports-mad brothers from Ashland, Oregon grew up fascinated with film and storytelling. As a result, using their dad’s video camera, they made ‘weird but clever sports films’ and a Spinal Tap/Mel Brook’s style mockumentary about the early life of Adolf Hitler in school! Remembering their eclectic style a friend working at Nike steered the brothers towards creating internet viral films, pre-YouTube, for Nike and the US Women’s World Cup Team. The films proved to be an instantaneous hit and successfully kicked off two careers.
Creating films full of energy, humour as well as showing their love for sport, The Hoffman Bros’s reputation has secured them more work for Nike and brands such as Gatorade, Canada Dry and Toyota. They have racked up a number of awards including a Cannes Gold Lion, D&AD, Eurobest Grand Prix, EPICA and Clio to name a few.
Joanna Bailey and Hel Hadfield are thrilled.
'We love their work; we love their attitude and energy. We felt the synergy instantly. We cherish our independence and our boutique status, and so do they. We think we're going to do really good things together. Exciting!'
Mark and Matt are equally excited by their new venture:
'When we looked out at the current landscape of all the new production companies that are popping up like hair bands, and the other 'Big' houses where we could easily get lost, we made the very conscious and deliberate decision to patiently search, seek and wait out to find a like-minded creatively focused partnership in the UK where we know the creative goals, and more importantly the culture and values fit with ours. With Snapper, it feels like we have found a reflection of ourselves in Helen and Joanna across the pond. This was clear from the first moment we spoke on the phone and has accelerated since. This feels like a true partnership where all of our collective experience and focus will benefit all of us equally, and probably lead to some wicked fun as well.'
Keen on expanding their reel in the UK, The Hoffman Bros. are looking forward to you dropping them a line.
