Design-focused production company Strange Beast has appointed Adam Parry, a revered artist and director of commercials and events, as its first Creative Director.
Parry has directed several successful projects through Strange Beast, including the hugely popular ‘Premium Remastered’ for Sauza 901 Tequila; an in-camera projection extravaganza starring Justin Timberlake. Parry is excited at the prospect of collaborating with the other Strange Beast Artists: “Over the last few years Strange Beast has really felt like a natural creative home for me and, together with Executive Producer Sam O’Keefe, I want to help open up as many creative avenues as possible for our amazing roster of directors.”
As Creative Director, one of Parry’s main tasks will be uniting the creative forces of Strange Beast’s directors who are not only diverse in their skills but also geographically, being spread around the globe. As he explains: “We are receiving increasing numbers of briefs that require collaboration between two or more different artists, so it's helpful to have one person to pull all the elements of a pitch together, and make sure the approach remains on-brief and coherent – as well as exciting and unique.”
Executive Producer Sam O’Keefe says of the appointment, “Adam and I have worked together for 10 years and we make a great team. He’s a natural leader and we share the same creative aspirations for the company and all of our artists. We’re working a lot more in design development and Adam brings a wealth of knowledge in this department."
Parry is confident that his experience will help to get the best from the artists on the company’s roster without hindering their creative expression: “The directors we have are all so skilled that I feel that my main role is to work with Sam in making sure they have the tools available to them to achieve their visions.” Parry will himself remain a fixture on the Strange Beast roster as Piccadilly Curtains, and balance the new role with his own filmmaking and art.
