Souk Advertising called on tantrum director, Jon Dennis, to create 3 charm filled 30" spots as part of budget airline Flybe's new advertising campaign. Shot across 2 days in Birmingham Airport's International Pier the campaign kicks off on regional TV in mid May.
Each film highlights Flybe's point of difference to other budget airlines in spots which deliver a clear message but with charm and humour engaging the audience with lovely pieces of performance. "Preparation" shows our non-Flybe flyer limbering up in a series of hilarious warm up exercises to get his seat while our Flybe man, with his pre-assigned seat, calmly looks on in amusement. The reaction at the end of this film is priceless. "Declaration" sees our excited Flybe passenger passing through customs brimming with the need to tell the bemused customs official just how good his flight was with Flybe. In all his enthusiasm he leans across the table and plants one right on her lips, not your average day at the customs desk. The poor father in "Phones" who is missing getting home in time to see his child to bed because he booked with an airline that only offered one flight per day unlike Flybe with their regular departures. Lost in telling a bedtime story to his child over the phone he is completely unaware of the spectacle he is making of himself while our Flybe woman, giving him that knowing look of a fellow parent, calmly gets up for her Flybe departure home. We can't say much for his choice in airlines but have to give him full points for his enthusiastic storytelling.
DOP Ben Magahy worked alongside Jon Dennis to keep the natural feel and look across all three films. Beautifully graded by Steffan Perry at Framestore these are films which will leave Flybe a very memorable choice for anyone considering their next travel destination.
No bun fight over seats? You've won us over already Flybe.
