Fresh Film Director & Photographer Harry George Hall Is a Winner at 'Portrait of Britain' Awards

30 August 2019

Fresh Film Director and Photographer Harry George Hall has plenty to celebrate this week as his photo is among the winners at the prestigious 'Portrait of Britain' awards.
Portrait of Britain is one of the largest exhibitions of contemporary portrait photography ever held, as much a celebration of photography as it is a celebration of the diversity of our country’s people.

The public will encounter the winning photographs as they go about their daily lives; in rail stations, shopping malls, high streets, and airports across the United Kingdom. In fact they can be seen on Oxford Street and across many London sites already. Following an open call by British Journal of Photography earlier this year, the panel of judges had the task of selecting 200 shortlisted images to be featured in the Portrait of Britain Book Vol.2, published by Hoxton Mini Press (released on 5 September 2019), and from this selection, 100 winning images were chosen to be displayed on JCDecaux screens throughout all of September. Lucky for Harry his image was selected as one of national winners.

Harry's winning photo is from personal project ‘Suffolk Skydancers’.

Of his win Harry says:
"Choosing to enter the portrait of Britain was easy. Every photographer wants to be part of this. In my personal work, I love observing the great british public and when entry opened I knew exactly which project would be suitable. It’s easy to get distracted by London and the way we live there; I grew up in the Suffolk countryside and wanted to celebrate the people there with this work. Britain is bursting with people doing wonderful and diverse things, I wanted to be part of illustrating that."
